Notes from online meeting June 6, 2017
  1. A letter will be going out to all presidents, presidents-elect and secretaries announcing the D7040 Passport Club and asking them to welcome members in their club activities or meetings.
  2. Myriam Montrat will be looking for activities in the Ottawa area that can be used for volunteer opportunities. Everyone is encouraged to mark at least two activities before the end on June. If you have difficulty getting things in, write to Ariane.
  3. Thanks to the efforts of David Wood, our treasurer, the club is now incorporated. We have opened an official club bank account. Details and dues invoices will be coming soon.
  4. Ariane will be contacting Chris Cochrane about a video to possibly raise funds by having people watch online.
  5. Chris is one of the first website sponsors for the club and we also have an ad from our corporate members. We’re hoping others will soon follow. If you know of someone who might want to advertise on our website, ask them to contact Ariane.
  6. Members in the online meeting wanted to have a charter celebration sooner rather than later. Ariane contacted DG Nabil and DGE Susan about possible dates. A BBQ at the Carriere residence was discussed. At the moment, we are looking at Tuesday, August 15, 2018 because that is the first open date that then DG Sue has.
  7. Canada Day Flotilla - Len Goddard, one of our club members, has agreed to support this fund raiser of the Rotary Club of Orleans.  This will help for the costs of Canada Celebrations on Petrie Island.  His boat has some committed Rotarians on board, and room for about five more.  This will be a fun event for all concerned and you will be able to count this as an attendance credit. The cost is $25.00 per person which will be given by the Orleans Rotary Club towards the Canada Celebrations. If someone is interested please contact Len, 613-834-8187 ext. 22, lensr@sonshinefamilies.ca
  8. In looking at the make-ups that we have so far, some of you have not listed any activities that you may have been involved in. I know that some of you took part in online organizational meetings, but you did not mark those in. You need to do this ASAP. I have closed off the first two weeks of May but you can still apply make-ups if you want. Remember that donations ($100 or more) also count as activity credits.
  9. Our next board meeting will take place July 3. Anyone can join in online to gain attendance credits.
Notes from the Atlanta Convention
  1. Up to 1.2 billion was pledged for polio eradication. There were pledges from Bill Gates, and one from the Canadian Government for $100 million CAD. It was a momentous occasion.
  2. I encourage you to go to http://video.rotary.org to watch some of the presentations from the convention. Brittany Arthur, Rotaract president of the Rotaract Club of Berlin was outstanding. Watching a video counts as an activity credit BTW.
