Support The Rotary Foundation on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement for charities and individuals to come together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. On 28 November, join the community of donors that support Rotarian projects around the world by making an online gift to The Rotary Foundation. Online giving is a fast, secure way to help families and communities that need it most — no wrapping paper required!

Meet the Member articles needed

Have you written your article introducing yourself yet? It does not take long and helps others in the club get to know you.

Adding a picture to your profile also helps others get to know you. Some of you may notice that your profile pictures have now been added.

Also, for some members, a biography has been added to their profile. Those are the Meet the Member articles that you have sent to me.

Observe Rotary Foundation Month

Continue celebrating the Rotary Foundation centennial in November by highlighting the Foundation’s achievements in fighting disease, promoting peace, and building healthy communities over the past 100 years. The Rotary Foundation page has historical facts about the institution that funds so much of the good that Rotarians do in the world.

Use our new informational SHARE chart to discuss how Rotarians and friends of Rotary help fund the Foundation.

Foundation Dinners

This idea came from the Rotary Club of West Ottawa. Most years, the Club Rotary Foundation Committee presents the opportunity for a fellowship dinner with 3-4 couples sharing a meal together.

The goal is to share our time while donating $25 from each participant to the Rotary Foundation.  One major goal is getting to know each other!
Usually, one Rotarian hosts the dinner, but there can be pot luck or other formats.  The host(s) coordinate dates and times.

There are two options for Passport members to attend Foundation Dinners.  One, would be to arrange 2 or 3 hosts from your group in Ottawa to host 2 or 3 Passport couples.  The other would be to have those interested to notify Susan Diening and she could add them if a group needs extra guests.

This would be a great way to get to know each other while doing good for the Rotary Foundation. It can be done in Ottawa or Cornwall, or wherever you are. An organization sheet will come next week.

Reverse Advent Calendar

Have you thought of a reverse Advent calendar for December? Every day in December place a non-perishable food item into a box. After Christmas, donate to a local food bank. It’s after Christmas that supplies need to be replenished. Peanut butter is always accepted.

Preparing for the AGM

Open Positions We are in need of a secretary, who will also deal with club administration, and a membership chair. Consider letting your name stand for these positions.

Salvation Army Update Len is coordinating efforts for the Kettle Drive in Ottawa for December 9. Ariane has contacted Oren Cole in Cornwall and will plans are in the works for the same day in Cornwall. Anyone can participate in a two-hour shift and count that as an activity. Check Downloads for the Kettle Campaign information.
