The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.
During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.
Why should I donate to The Rotary Foundation?
Your donation makes a difference to those who need our help most. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world.
How does The Rotary Foundation use donations?
Our 35,000 clubs carry out sustainable service projects that support our six causes. With donations like yours, we’ve wiped out 99.9 percent of all polio cases. Your donation also trains future peacemakers, supports clean water, and strengthens local economies.
What impact can one donation have?
It can save a life. A child can be protected from polio with as little as 60 cents. Our partners make your donation go even further. For every $1 Rotary commits to polio eradication, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $2.
Preparing for the AGM
Open Positions We are in need of a secretary, who will also deal with club administration, and a membership chair. Consider letting your name stand for these positions.
Proxies. If you will not be able to attend the Annual General Meeting online, you need to send an email to
d7040passport@gmail.com with your proxy to allow someone to vote for you at the AGM. We need at least 10 votes for any item to get our quorum. An email has gone to everyone with the required format if you are not able to attend. The proxy form is also available in Downloads.
Calendars. Len Goddard has organized the sale of 2018 calendars through our club members. Len reported this week that he has less than 30 calendars left.
There is a daily draw throughout 2018 for each person buying a calendar. Our club gets half of the sales, or $10 per calendar. If we are successful in selling all 100 calendars, we will make $1000 for the club.
Tear-off slips and money are to be coordinated through Len, or through Treasurer David so that we send slips and money as a group.
Salvation Army. Len is coordinating efforts for the Kettle Drive in Ottawa for December 9. Ariane has contacted Oren Cole in Cornwall and will aim for the same day, but so far has not heard back. Anyone can participate in a two-hour shift and count that as an activity. Check Downloads for the Kettle Campaign information.

Are you a Rotarian?
The Rotarian magazine recently asked members around the world to share their reasons for joining, and for staying in, their club. Here are some of their responses:
I had a desire to give back to my community and the world. My father was a Rotarian, so I knew a lot about it. That was about nine years ago. I think what keeps me there is the friendships, not only with people in my local club but with Rotarians I’ve met from around the world.
Elizabeth Cohoe, Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston, Ontario, Canada
I sat down and figured out how much time I was donating, and how much more effective it would be as part of a club instead of doing it all myself. I joined for the service and stay for all the friends I’ve made. It’s nice to travel and instantly have friends wherever I go.
Aur Beck, Rotary Club of Carbondale Breakfast, Illinois, USA
Honestly? I joined for business. But I stayed for the fellowship and causes.
