Have you paid your dues?

Dues are payable by e-transfer d7040passportclub@gmail.com There was an error in the email address last week. Dues are $225.00 CAD, payable in quarterly, semi-annual, or yearly amounts. Our first invoice from Rotary International came in this week, so we need you to pay up.

New Rotarians

If you’re a brand-new Rotarian, it is sometimes difficult to figure out what is going on and what Rotary is all about. In a normal club, there are training sessions for new Rotarians. Since we do not meet regularly, you need to do this on your own. Go to https://my.rotary.org/en/learning-reference/learn-role/new-member and read through the page and some of the suggestions for you. Doing that earns you an attendance credit.

Weekly reminder about make-ups

Remember to add your make-ups to the website after you have read this bulletin. There are lots of golf tournaments to take part in, or volunteer.

There are Ribfests in almost every part of our district. Perth is having one this coming weekend https://www.facebook.com/perthribfest/ .

Another opportunity for volunteering are the fairs that are taking place all over. We’ve been invited to assist in the parking at the Williamstown Fair August 11, 12, 13. I’ve created a Doodle to make things easier for you. Click on https://doodle.com/poll/nmvm4rh55vtd2wgs and mark in your choices. This volunteering does pay. We get $10 per person, per hour for the club. If you can make it to even one time slot that would be a help. It would also show that our club is willing to assist other clubs in the area.

The Rotary Foundation

We agreed that a donation of $100 to the Rotary Foundation would be considered as an attendance credit. Did you know that you can do this online, and have it stretched out over the year? Check the Rotary Direct Form at the side to see how you can do that. The goal for our club is to have all Sustaining Members. A Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member personally contributes $100 or more each Rotary year to the Annual Fund. These contributions count toward Paul Harris Fellow, Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society, Major Donor, and club recognition banners.

Classification

What first brought you to Rotary? In all likelihood, someone identified you as a prospective Rotarian because you are a respected member of your business or professional field — in Rotary parlance, your “classification.” Each Rotary club’s membership represents a cross-section of its community’s business and professional population, which ensures diversity in experiences and perspectives. Classification and vocational service go hand in hand. Just as Rotarians represent their vocations in Rotary, so do they represent Rotary in their vocations.

We have been featuring different Rotarians in our club:
Our newest member Sharron Czorny
I worked in Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) in Ottawa as Procurement Officer purchasing hardware, software, and was offered an early retirement in 1997 after 32 years. I also worked in Revenue Canada and Elections Canada for another 12 years. Now that I am retired I have extra time to help out the community.
My volunteer services over the years and at present are as follows:
  • H.O.P.E. Helping Other People Everywhere, Ottawa Ontario for 10 years and Chairperson for 4 years raising money for several charities in Ottawa
  • Big Sister annual fashion shows in Ottawa
  • Habitat for Humanity, soon to be in Cornwall
  • Wine and the Blues, Mardi Gras, Dunedin, Florida during winter months
  • Ottawa telethon on the phones to raise funds for CHEO
  • Ran in the annual 24 hour relay for 3 years to raise money for the Royal Hospital in Ottawa.
We are looking for your classification paragraph, or bio if you prefer. Email Ariane.
