The Rotary Foundation for Rotary’s Birthday
Other News
Yesterday I attended a District Team Training Seminar and came back enthusiastic about our district leadership and come of the ideas that were discussed. In the area of increasing public image and Rotary awareness, we talked about wearing your name tag and Rotary pin. Since we are going out and volunteering with other clubs and organizations, it’s important to wear your D7040 Passport name tag to identify what we are about. Name tags for our newest three members have been ordered and will be on their way this week.
We talked about projects and ideas and creating ownership for members. Is there a project do you want to do? Do you have something that you feel the club could take on, considering we are spread all over the place? In this bulletin there are appeals from several clubs for participation, and we also have the list of events that you can see at the bottom.
Finding out about the Rotary Foundation in Ottawa
As President of our Club, I requested some help with learning more about and getting some encouragement for our efforts with respect to the Rotary Foundation. In this regard, I have tentatively made arrangements for PDG Bonnie Black to speak to us on April 4 in the evening.
I would like to know if there would be interest from as many members as possible for this to be a 'city wide' opportunity for many of the Rotarians in your clubs to really get into the Foundation basics, and likely the not so basics!
Please let me know by--and no later than- February 21 if you think you can field a group and approximate numbers. It would be held at the Ramada on Prince of Wales at Hunt Club that evening around 6 p.m. Arrangements for a cost etc. would be worked out as well. I thought it would be a good opportunity for not only experienced members but newer ones.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please reply to Glen Agar, President South Nepean.

Golf Tournament tickets
Steve Bent, Finance Director at Ottawa Lifeskills, an organization dedicated to assisting individual with physical or other challenges in living more independently as well as with integration into the community, contacted me regarding their golf tournament. In the past our Bytown Club has been an active partner.
Steve is asking if any other club or collection of clubs would like to participate in the sale of their passes, each going for $150.00. He has offered to share proceeds with Rotary. I believe last year Bytown successfully sold 24 of the 80 tickets. Steve noted that last year they generated roughly $7,000 in proceeds which they shared with our Rotary Club. The tourney his scheduled for June 13 at the Kemptville golf course.
So, the question is: Given the opportunity to show off the Rotary brand at this tournament is any individual club interested in partnering alone or as part of a collection of clubs and help in the sales of tickets/passes? I look forward to your thoughts!
