Urgent need for translators

The District is undergoing somewhat of a crisis where translation is concerned:  we do not have enough translators for the amount that needs to be translated and unless we greatly raise District dues, we cannot afford the translation costs.

I am sending this appeal for translators (mostly for English to French) and ask you to speak to your members about joining the translation team.  The loss of Bertrand de Cardaillac has affected us deeply as he was the mainstay of the team. Please ask anyone who is interested to contact me directly at brkcornwall@gmail.com so that we can have a strong translation team in D 7040. Thank you!

Board meeting

The next board meeting takes place August 28, at 7:00 pm. Anyone can join in at

Meeting on the first Monday of the month has proved to be impractical, so I am changing that to the last Monday of every month. We will need to make a decision about December when the time comes.

Charter Night August 15, 2017

It was a great night!

Even the rain did not stop the festivities.

Are you finding it a challenge to inspire and engage new members?

This month, consider using these resources to orient new Rotarians:
  • Rotary Basics is a comprehensive guide to all things Rotary. It covers everything from how Rotary began to how to get the most out of membership.
  • Connect for Good shows members how to get involved in Rotary in ways that match their interests. This guide will help new and established members get more out of their Rotary experience.
Use the links above to download these resources free of charge, or buy them on shop.rotary.org. They’re included in the New Member Welcome Kit and sold separately.
Find more tips for welcoming new members in Introducing New Members to Rotary: An Orientation Guide. And go to rotary.org/membership for other membership resources.
