Surveys

One of the goals that we have for 2018-19 is to do a classification survey. It will help us achieve another Rotary Citation. Thanks to the 16 people  who have completed the survey. This will remain open until December 31. The survey will serve for one of the goals towards a Rotary Citation. If anyone wants to work with me to got through the results, contact me.

Ready to start? Gather member data:

Please complete the Occupation and Professional Expertise Survey online. You can complete in your own time and include your name in the first box. We've only had 6 responses so far. That's not enough to count as a goal achieved.

Documents/Website info

As members you should be familiar with the Documents section of our website. You need to be signed in. There are minutes of our meetings, year-end financial reports, job descriptions for various Board positions, ClubRunner articles and so on.

Meet the Member articles needed

Have you written your article introducing yourself yet? It does not take long and helps others in the club get to know you.

Adding a picture to your profile also helps others get to know you. Some of you may notice that your profile pictures have now been added.

Also, for some members, a biography has been added to their profile. Those are the Meet the Member articles that you have sent to me.

Grant Application Approved

Last year we applied for a District Grant to assist with planning for the Youth Now farm. We have finally been given the go-ahead and will need to contribute $3500. Some of that will come from assistance from other clubs, and from some of the fundraising revenue that we get from other clubs. We are asking everyone to contribut $50 towards our goal as well.

If you pay half-year or quarterly dues, include that $50 with your e-transfer for January 1. Just send a note to Dave that you have done this.

Don't forget. Dues are due!

Why Create an Account with Rotary International?

Recently I checked the status of members at RI and discovered that 14 members do not have a Rotary International account, called My Rotary.

Signing in to My Rotary gives you a customized experience and easier access to tools and information that are relevant to you.

Anyone can create an account and sign in. Existing Member Access users can re-register with their current user ID. For tips on registering and using the site, see RI website resources. For assistance, contact us.

I will check again at the end of January to see if you have signed into your account.

The Rotary Foundation Weekly Messages: Week 27

HOW THE ROTARY FOUNDATION TOUCHED ONE PERSON’S LIFE: “What we do is touch other people . . . open the horizon to them . . . say ‘You matter.’  You see, the five men who chose me to become a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar are gone . . . but they’re not.  They never will be.  Because along the way, I will in my own way share with others - and have - what those five men and the 60 members of the Marshall (Texas) Rotary and the tens of thousands of other members of Rotary did in 1956 when they said, ‘Bill Moyers, you can matter.’”   Bill Moyers, TV journalist and commentator, and former Deputy Director of the Peace Corps.

District 7040 awards for you to nominate

In Documents you’ll find some details on awards that you should take a look at, based on the Avenues of Service.  What good members in our club would you nominate?

Rotary ABC's - Avenues of Service

We channel our commitment to service at home and abroad through five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity.

  • Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.
  • Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society. Learn more in An Introduction to Vocational Service and the Code of Conduct.
  • Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest. Learn more in Communities in Action: A Guide to Effective Projects.
  • International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
  • Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as RotaractInteractRotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
Don't forget. Dues are due!

We're ready for another shirt order

Our last order of shirts came in, see below. We get a better deal if we order at least 10 shirts, so let me know what size you need. The shirts are $45 each and we try to find a way to deliver without mailing costs.

I have name tags for our last 6 new members so contact me for a way to get them to you.

There will be a Presidents' meeting in Ottawa on January 14 at 7:00 am. I'd like to schedule and Ottawa Passport members lunch at 12:00 pm that day at Monkey Joe's, Westgate Mall, 1265 Carling Avenue. Please RSVP if you are able to attend.

Did I mention that dues are due? If you pay semi-annually or quarterly, please make an e-transfer to d7040passport@gmail.com. Use the District number, 7040, for the security question.
