Exchange Ideas
Rotarian Home Exchange
The objective of this Rotary group is the exchange of homes between Rotarians, because as Rotarians we are interested in getting to know as much as they can about the world. We want to spread peace, friendship and understanding. There is no better way to understand a country or region than by spending a few weeks in the home of a fellow Rotarian. We don´t only exchange homes, but also have the opportunity of submerging ourselves in the culture of the local society. Specific hobbies like cycling, hiking, culture etc. are organized by a local Rotarian. A list of contacts, maps with specific notes, restaurants or events in the area is prepared making the home exchange a unique experience, not comparable to any other home exchange system.
Two types of exchanges exist, “regular exchange” or house to house exchange, where both Rotarians must come to an agreement on the dates of the exchange, although some Rotarians offer their second home if they have one. There is also “Hospitality Exchange”, in which both families stay in the same house. This option is only for very big houses, but it increases the friendship experience, seeing that the host accompanies the guests during their visit. On many occasions, apart from the home exchange, a car is included, previously agreeing on the mileage and any additional costs.
Group member are Rotarians, or family members of Rotarian, with the average age of about 50. Most exchanges are in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand. The interesting part is that you become totally involved with the local ambiance, visiting the host club, and taking advantage of interesting opportunities which can arise from discovering and sharing local secrets that only the locals know. It is another opportunity to expand one of the pillars of Rotary, friendship, and encouraging the contacts between Rotarians of different countries.

Attendance Matters
Several of our members who were active since July 1 have reached the May 28 date which signifies that they have done 40 activities that qualify for participation. Some of you who joined later in the year are getting to the point where you’ve done makeups to May 28, We cannot add in extra meetings for you, but you should keep banking them. It does show what everyone is doing. How long has it been since you’ve added makeups?
