Your board is working on updated bylaws. Thank you  Ariane Carriere for spearheading this initiative.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Bay Hill , Florida, and the Dr. Phillips Rotary Club in Orlando, Florida, for allowing myself to volunteer at their major annual event-the Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament.  In return, I will be a speaker at both clubs this week.  Will be promoting us!

Til next week ...
Notice to All Members -
from Ariane..

draft revision of the bylaws can be found in Documents. We were reminded again at District Council yesterday that clubs need to update their bylaws according to the 2019 COL. The generic club bylaws that RI put out after the 2019 Council on Legislation are also in Documents. I tried to model the draft revision after that. Whenever possible, I have highlighted the changes, but if something was shortened that will not show.

The election of the Board is different and the method of electing new members is shortened. According to RI, we need to give 21 days notice for amendments, so that is why notice is going out today.

Please read the revised version and compare to the RI version if you wish. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact me ariane.carriere@rotary7040.com .

        Secretary's Thoughts

Hard to believe that we had our switch to Daylight savings time this morning, seems like spring is almost with us and another Rotary Year will be finishing in just 3 and half months!

So this is the time to think about all those plans you had in mind for this year in terms of Rotary.  Perhaps a friend that you think would might like to become a member of our club, or a special community project you'd planned to get involved with.  Or perhaps you might like to just consider sending in a short article for the Bulletin about some of the things on your mind or Rotary activities you would like to see us pursuing.

And while you're thinking about all that don't forget to send in some neat photos that we can include in a future issue!

Yours in Rotary,

Terry

International Women’s Day

By Jacinthe Paillé, President-Elect

Here’s an excerpt from a text I wrote for the District Newsletter:
In 1911, a million people gathered to commemorate the first ever International Women’s Day. It became an official world-wide celebration by the United Nations in 1975. Today, no matter where they live, what they do, or what their background is, people around the world celebrate women on March 8 to help ‘forge a gender equal world.’

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is #EachforEqual: ‘An equal world is an enabled world.’  The website https://www.internationalwomensday.com/ contains a wealth of information on events, how to get involved, and more.

On March 8 and every day of the year, let’s embrace all women!

Maddie's Musings

Exciting youth exchange news: the future Rotary Youth Exchange students from District 7040 will be receiving their country assignments this week!

On another note, I often volunteer with one of the Rotary Clubs here in Montreal, and at their last function, I heard a fellow Rotarian lamenting the fact that Rotary is often misunderstood (or a completely foreign concept) by those who are not involved. He went on to describe Rotary as "the best-kept secret in the community" which resonated with me. Most people have no idea what Rotary is or the work that Rotarians do. I believe that it is up to us as Rotarians to be proud of the work that we do and the organization of which we are part, and to spread the word however we can.

Have a great week!
