Silent Auction
At our last meeting we talked about an online auction. This has been done with other clubs, so to give this our own twist, we will feature items that our members have made, crafted, or been personally involved with in some way. We will discuss the timing of the online auction at our next meeting, but in the meantime there is an article on online silent auction rules in the Documents section.
Have you been to our club Documents section?
Meet the Member
I grew up in Wales, ON on a farm which was expropriated as part of the Lost Villages which made way for the St. Lawrence Seaway project. My father bought another farm in Chute -à -Blondeau, near Hawkesbury where he remained till 1969. I attended St Raphael's boarding school for high school, Ottawa Teachers' College and then McGill University for my undergraduate studies in music where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education and a Licentiate in Piano performance. I later did a Master's program at Carleton University receiving an MA.
I taught music in elementary schools in Ottawa as well as kept a private piano practice. But, another career path took hold in the late '70s. I became a weaver specializing in woven furs, specifically recycling fur coats to make woven creations worthy of our Canadian winters. My custom market served me well for the 18 years given until a severe health issue made me look at myself differently. I went back to setting up a piano studio, and, to teaching within the Ottawa Catholic School Board as a French immersion Teacher on a half time basis.
Now in semi retirement, I devote myself to a dozen piano students, to playing pickleball several times a week, accompanying a School Board Choir called Young Voices, performing twice a year with my piano duet partner of 6 years and loving the company of my husband. Grandchildren from our two children complete the picture of life for me. I am indeed blessed.
