FOUNDATION MOMENT

What is The Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund?

Gifts to Rotary's Endowment ensure that future Rotarians will have the resources they need to design and implement sustainable projects year after year. Donations to the Endowment Fund can be made as an outright gift or a planned gift, such as a bequest in your estate. As of the 2018-19 Rotary year, Rotary’s Endowment totals US$374.5 million and has US$828.9 million in commitments.

Secretary's Thoughts

Hello Fellow Rotarians,

Well as everyone knows – our September meeting is coming up this Tuesday, September 29th at 5:00 PM   The link is at the top left corner of our Bulletin, so we are hoping for another great turnout.  Hard to believe that summer is now behind us and we are now once again head into into autumn.

The Agenda for Tuesday's meeting and Minutes of the last meeting will be circulated to everyone by early Tuesday morning or before if at all possible.

Please make special note of the Club Runner Training opportunities via Zoom coming up on Wednesday September 30thand again the next day on October 1st.  As the declining “Make-up” stats indicate (please see Ariane's "Membership Corner - later in this Bulletin) we can do a great deal better as we try and reach for that 100% Attendance Goal that we are striving for.  Many of us have a great many make-up opportunities that we should be reporting and if struggling with Club Runner is the problem, here’s a chance to break that cycle.

Membership Chair Ariane has scheduled two opportunities this week for any of us who need some training in this regard.  If that includes you, please take note. 7-8 PM on Wednesday the 30th and 1-2PM Eastern time on Thursday.

And speaking of make-ups many of our members are doing a multitude of different things in our communities and we should be celebrating these wins which add up to a great impact.  Please remember to take photos and send them on in to me along with a brief story or caption to help share this knowledge with everyone and perhaps stir some ideas that we can all learn from.

A couple of issues ago I promised to provide you with an update on the Mississauga Club’s Chase the Ace 50/50 Ontario Rotary Lottery.  I am advised by Dale Shearer the Mississauga Clun member who now leading this initiative they have submitted a new "Chase The Ace" application to the Lottery Corporation for their proposed new format and they are hopeful that approval will come in time to relaunch the lottery in November – so please continue to stand by for more news on this exciting fund raising opportunity.

And finally, your Foundation Committee headed by President Jacinthe, met again on Friday morning this past week and discussed plans for our Foundation Month of activities in November, as well as our key End Polio Day Event on October 24th.  Brian Foster has been working hard with a great committee of folks on a special On-Line Fundraiser Concert that we are co-sponsoring with the West Ottawa Club to raise funds for the Foundation and specifically for the Foundation’s End Polio Campaign.  Stay tuned for more exciting news about this concert, but in the meantime check out President-Elect Maddies's Poster just below and share with your friends and contacts via Social Media!!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Terry

President-Elect Maddie Roy

What better way to mark World Polio Day (October 24th) than by signing in for our End Polio Now benefit! There will be incredible talent on display - all in the name of putting an end to polio, once and for all. I will attach virtual posters in an email so that we can promote this event online. If you post about this event on Facebook or Twitter, please tag the D7040 Rotary Passport Club!

Membership Corner

Membership Chair - Ariane

Our attendance this week is 52.85 %. lower again than last week which was 53.64 %, lower again than the previous week.  Not a great trend, yet I know that many of you have done activities that would count for a makeup.

If you have taken the Protecting Personal Data course at the RI Learning Center, let me know so that I can add it to you member designations. You can also do it yourself, it’s one of the things we’ll be talking about during the ClubRunner training.

There have not been any more orders for shirts, so I will go with that for now. If you’re interested in Rotary masks, let me know.

Last, but not least, West Ottawa is not doing cash calendars this year. It will be difficult to get some funds, but if you have someone who wants to advertise on our website, tell them to get in touch with me.
