Mark in your makeups as soon as you get this bulletin.
Quarterly dues should have been paid as of October 1.
As a virtual club it is important to find a focal point for our communications and share what we are involved in. Everyone wants email because it's familiar. But that's going to be tough because there will be no central point where as president I can share info. Not everyone is reading the weekly bulletin and it’s hard to keep sending out reminders and the like. There's are bunch of options that can be used that combine email messages and online bulletin boards so that we have a place to post info, and members can depend on emails from the bulletin board to let them know something new has been posted. We are investigating if Club Runner can do that. Kathy Trim, our new Communications and Public Relations director will be sending out a survey with some options to get the opinions of members.
We discussed the Dictionary 4 Life program and the feeling was that although it was a good program it was too much for us to get into right now. We also had some discussion about whether our club would get involved in fundraising. Some may want to get into the calendar sales with West Ottawa, but that is only for those who want it.
Len Goddard will try to set up a date with the Salvation Army for kettles in Ottawa, as we also will do here in Cornwall. There need to be ten members (or families or friends) to volunteer for a day, if we wanted to do it at the same location.
We talked about events lists of what is happening in Rotary Clubs throughout our District. This was set that in motion with DG Sue and club presidents and secretaries. See the note about events to the left.
A message has been sent to Fay Campbell and Hadi Mortada, Area Governors for the Ottawa area about getting representation on the Ottawa area presidents’ council.
We know that for some it feels really strange, or disconnected somehow not to be tied to a meeting schedule, on the other hand it’s also great to feel that you’re not wasting your time but doing something you want to do. One of the members said that what he felt was the main benefit of Rotary was the support from other members. If you get involved in a cause or an event, you can count on your fellow Rotarians for support. You're not alone.
