We have several new members in our club. Barry Rowlands was introduced in our November 11 bulletin. We also have now Madeline Roy, who is also in the Downtown Montreal Rotaract Club, and Margaret Shipley who was referred to us by Ana Sutherland from Cataraqui-Kingston just as Barry was. Thank you Ana.
To assist new members, but also for some of the previous Rotarians, I have added a New Member Program. To get there, you click on Admin and in the list on the right, go to New Member Program. Everyone's name is there with commitments that are assigned. You go in and edit the date that you completed something. If it's so far back that you don't remember, estimate. We'll discuss this program and anything else you want after our AGM.
Getting Ready for our AGM
If you are interested in an executive position, let Ariane of Jacinthe know by November 30. At the moment, the following people have let their name stand for next year:
President - Chris Cochrane
President Elect and Foundation - Jacinthe Paille
Secretary and Membership - Ariane Carriere
No other positions have been requested, but if you are interested you can still let your name stand.
If you are unable to attend on December 4 you need to fill out a proxy form to give the executive the ability to act on your behalf. Click on the
link and follow the instructions. I have received 5 proxies so far. We need a majority of members to approve financial report, executive and so on so your proxy is important.
The Rotary Foundation Weekly Messages
WEEK 15 (We’re out of our regular rotation because Week 22 and 23 are no longer applicable)
WHAT IS A ROTARY FOUNDATION BENEFACTOR?
A Rotary Foundation Benefactor is a person who has notified The Rotary Foundation that he/she has made provisions in his/her final estate plans to Rotary, or made an outright gift of $1,000 or more, to the Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund. Benefactors receive a commemorative certificate, a letter of appreciation, and a royal blue and gold ribbon insignia to be attached to a Rotary or PHF pin. A US$1,000 gift to The Foundation creates a legacy of helping people live better lives around the world. We currently have three Benefactors in our Club. Our goal is to have at least two more Benefactors this year in order to achieve our Rotary Citation. If you are interested, contact Curry Wood, Beth Campbell, or Ariane Carriere.
December is the Month for...
There will be a special
District Council meeting on December 16, at 8:30 pm, to discuss the findings of DisCon 2018
Many of the ideas generated were about membership. There will be an RI membership seminar online on Wednesday 5 December at 7:00 pm. You need to fill out the attached
invitation if you want to participate.
