Hello Fellow Rotarians – this is my first opportunity to greet all of you as the new Club Secretary and I would like to begin by expressing thanks to all for this opportunity to serve the Passport Club.
Although I served as a Club Secretary in Iqaluit over twenty years ago, there have been a lot of changes and of course I did not have an opportunity to attend PETS so I will be picking this up as I go along. President Chris and I have already had one extended Zoom meeting to get to know each other a bit and also discuss our respective roles. I am also hoping to meet soon with Ariane who I’m sure will be very helpful.
I would like to stress the importance of each member taking personal responsibility for keeping their recording of attendance up to date including, in particular, makeups.
While we only have one club meeting a month each of us still has a responsibility to make-up activities each week and then to ensure we record them appropriately on our web site. Each of us should aim to report 100% attendance through the combination of our regular monthly meetings and makeups.
There are a variety of ways to do makeups. This includes attending the meetings of other clubs as well as fund-raising activities they might be holding, volunteering with a non-Rotary community group activity such as a soup kitchen, Habitat for Humanity activity, local Food Bank or indeed an activity undertaken with any charitable group. Any Rotary activity or Passport Club meeting you might attend such as a Club Monthly, Board, Committee or Coffee With a Rotarian also counts. But it is important to make sure you have recorded these and when you have reached your 52 week max, it then becomes possible to start banking them.
By the way, if you haven’t already discovered, President Chris is posting all regular monthly club meetings so that watching the video qualifies as a make-up.
If you are having difficulty with the technology please reach out to another member for help or let me know and I will try my best to assist you with any issues you might have. Many thanks to all for your cooperation.
- Secretary Terry Forth
