Why We Support Our Rotary Foundation?

Every minute of every day someone’s life is being improved by our Rotary Foundation. Rotary clubs on every continent are working to improve the living conditions and health of their fellow citizens. Rotarians like you and me can make a difference by continually supporting our Foundation and the Annual Fund. As Rotarians, we determine where funds are allocated through District Designated Funds, which we can use for local or international projects. When we contribute to our Foundation we are promoting worldwide Peace and Understanding.

Only if Every Rotarian Every Year makes a gift to the Annual Fund will we continue to do the great work of The Rotary Foundation.  Thank you for your support!

Thank You/Merci,

June is Rotary Fellowships Month!

As I am writing this, we are about to start the Rotary International Virtual Convention! By the time you read this, the virtual event will be in full swing. Although it is clearly a different way to meet than travelling to Taipei, as was the original plan, it will certainly be an excellent experience. Find out all the details here: https://convention.rotary.org/en
*Don’t forget that as soon as this convention starts, you can register for the next one…and we all hope we can celebrate the way Rotarians do in Houston, Texas in 2022!

Talking about excellent experiences, I would like to suggest a few other upcoming (virtual) events:
  • On June 25th, you can attend the Centennial Celebrations of the Kingston clubs: https://rotary7040.com/event/centennial-celebration---kingston-clubs/
  • On June 26th, why not participate in the District Changeover? It is a time to celebrate Hadi Mortada’s year and Fay Campbell’s installment as 2021-22 Governor. Check it out here: https://rotary7040.com/event/district-changeover-1/
  • Finally, of course, do not miss our own D7040 Passport club changeover on Tuesday, June 29th at 4:00pm EDT! President-Elect Maddie will kick off her year from Israel as I wrap up the 2020-21 Rotary year from my home in Laval, Quebec. See you then!
Secretary's Thoughts

Hi fellow Passport Club Rotarians and friends,

Well I hope that many of you have been enjoying the virtual Rotary International Convention these past few days.  President Jacinthe has provided some information and links in her column above and it’s not yet too late as there will continue to be sessions right up to the closing ceremonies on Wednesday this week.  Also recordings of all of the general sessions will be available to access on the convention site.

A friendly reminder about annual membership fees.  By now you have probably received your membership invoice from Treasurer David.  Our dues are now due and David would appreciate receiving your annual dues or the first instalment (according to whatever arrangement you have in place) by June 30th.

Have a great week everyone!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Terry

President-Elect Maddie Roy

The International Convention is upon us!

As our President Jacinthe mentioned, it is easy to sign up online both for this year's rendition as well as next year's - Houston 2022!

I have arrived in the land of milk and honey and I promptly did two things - got a sunburn and made contact with a local Rotary club. I'm excited to meet with some local Rotarians while I'm here to see what kind of fellowship and service projects they are engaged in.

2695. That's my registration number for Houston. If you're going to go, register by Wednesday for the cheapest price, $425 US. I am enjoying the virtual convention and getting some good ideas for membership, but there is nothing like getting together with other Rotarians at a convention.

It is a pleasure to welcome David Carey to our club officially. RI found his ID number. We will do an official induction of David and Brian Patterson on June 29.

Have your checked Coffee with a Rotarian this month? You can find it here. Brian has changed things a bit again. We are looking for someone else to do this listing since Brian will no longer be doing it. He has advised me that he is moving on to another club. Please let me know if you are interested. I have also been advised that Liz Pauksen, Richard Conney, and Nico Verderosa will not continue next year.

How about you? It really is time to let us know if you are going to be continuing for next year. Let us know so that we do not get billed if you are not going to continue.

It's time to update our logo. The word club does not need to be in there any more so I have a couple of samples:

Do you prefer the club name above or below:
Let me know what you think so we can start with a new logo on July 1.

Finally, do you show your Rotary pride by wearing your Rotary pin, or a Rotary shirt as Jacinthe has above? This was a questions asked in the first plenary of the convention. This is how I show my Rotary pride:

I had the logos put on when I was DG and changed them when the Passport Club was formed.
