Foundation Moment with DG Hadi

Why is SHARE called “SHARE”?

The Rotary Foundation’s funding system is called SHARE because the name defines what the system does:

  1. Rotarians SHARE their resources with their fellow Rotarians around the world;
  2. The Rotary Foundation Trustees SHARE some of their decision-making responsibilities with Rotary Districts; and
  3. Rotarians SHARE Rotary with the world through their Rotary Foundation.

Ready to get involved?

Thank You/Merci,
Hadi Mortada,

How appropriate that during Water, Sanitation and Hygiene month we received the following message:

"We are delighted to advise that the District Grant project we undertook with your help this year has been completed. It involved assisting the community of Talniqui by providing a pump and some of the piping for a water system that would relieve community members of the burden of carrying water up a very steep path to their homes. Thank you so much to the Rotary Club of D7040 Passport for your help."

Simmy and I visited the site where this project has now been completed. It was very necessary for the community.

March is Water and Sanitation Month!

As I am writing this, I just finished a Zoom meeting with Christopher Thompson, one of our newest members. Chris reached out to me when he saw we had been matched for Coffee with a Rotarian. This initiative has allowed me to get to know some members more personally, and I love it ! I hope you are reaching out to the person you’ve been matched with – why not do it today ?

During the conversation, I was able to find out that we have some things in common : we both speak several languages ; Chris has three children, and two of them are close in age to my stepson and youngest daughter ; his oldest daughter, is like me, an avid reader. And Chris would love to start a Little Free Library in his community! I sent him the link to the organization as well as some reading suggestions – for him and his family.

In all my Rotary years, what I’ve enjoyed the most is the fellowship between members. I consider some Rotarians as my close friends – and Rotary is another family for me. Anywhere I go in the world, I can meet like-minded people thanks to the organization ; I can give back to my community and beyond; and I can develop new skills.

If you’d like to get new ideas on how to enrich your Rotary life, feel free to reach out to me – I have plenty of them to share !
Secretary's Thoughts

Hi fellow Passport Club Rotarians and friends,

Well, Daylight Saving Time has begun which means that we’re that much closer to Spring and warmer weather – bring it on!  Also looks like the supply of vaccines is getting better and the rollout seems to be picking up speed as well across the country.  All good news!

Please note there is a special event coming up this Thursday March 18th 7:00 PM Eastern time.  This is a Climate Action Team Network Event – The Environment is now the seventh area of focus for Rotary – The speaker will be Whendee Silver who will be focusing on “Recapturing Carbon for Climate Change Mitigation”  Click here for information and to Register:

You can also click on the "Climate Action" item in our Events Calendar in the left hand column.

And please also take note of other special meetings and events taking place.

Have a great week everyone and see you all in next Sunday's Bulletin.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Terry

President-Elect Maddie Roy

World Rotaract Week is wrapping up after we celebrated Rotaract's 53rd birthday yesterday. For those who are interested, there are only a few days left to register for the Rotaract Canada Symposium to be held next weekend (March 19-21). This event is the first of its kind and is sure to be a wonderful way to connect with Rotaractors all over the country! Click here for more information.

Have a great week everyone :)

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

                         Membership Director Ariane Carriere

The March list for Coffee with a Rotarian can be found here.

When was the last time that you entered a makeup? In case you've forgotten, there is a download file on our home page www.d7040passport.org, on the left-hand side. Our attendance is just over 66%.

While you're at the home page, is there anything that you would like to see there? Let Ariane know.

We have been invited by the Pacific Northwest Passport Club to participate in a joint meeting. They usually meet on Saturdays. This would be for fellowship and to compare some of what we do. If you are interested, let Ariane know.

From the Rotary Club of Cornwall:

September 2021-Although it is a long way down the track, an initiative is still being worked on with the local BMX Club to have a “Quarter Mile Fundraiser” to further support their Club operations and a jointly agreed to Charitable organization. The concept involves collecting 17,000 quarters which is about what it would take to place them on their quarter mile track.

BMX and the Cornwall Club would promote and work on this jointly, but why not put some of your quarters aside, just in case!?

To assist with the idea of new and different type clubs, I thought you might be interested in joining the following meeting:

This will be our Membership Committee meeting for the month of March, rather than the regular meeting. You can get the registration link in the event column on the left.
