A big thank you, well done, to Ariane Carriere for hustling to obtain our Club a possible District grant.
Done in one day, it shows that focus and priority matter.  Please see her words below.

With so many of us at home, and this week is our Club's birthday, it's time for an online social.
You'll receive in your email tomorrow an invite with details.
Attend with a drink in hand. Tell stories, chat, get to know other members and guests.

Finally some good news. The Provinces of Ontario and Quebec are beginning their process of re-opening business. In stages with caution.
Remember, social distancing ( and wearing a mask) will be expected.

Stay Safe. See you at the online social.

Till next week ...

             Secretary's Thoughts

Last Tuesday's online club meeting was very well attended with 21 members, plus our three current honorary members - a club record I believe.  As a result - and as Ariane reports later in this Bulletin, our revised Bylaws were passed.

If you were one of the ten members among the missing I hope that you will go on line if you have not already done so, and then be able to record a makeup by watching the recording.

Speaking of which, please don't forget to keep updating your make-ups.  We want to be able to demonstrate that we are very active club.

Once again, here's an important message from Rotary International:

Yours in Rotary,

Terry

Celebrations!

By Jacinthe Paillé
President-Elect 2020-21

On May 8, 2020, our club will turn 3! Happy birthday to our wonderful club – may it continue to do good in our different communities!

To celebrate on that day, I would like to invite you to post a photo of you doing something that you counted as a makeup throughout your life as a member of the club. You could post on Facebook or Twitter. For example, I will post a photo of me and my Little Free Library J

As well, on May 9 at 10:00am, why not walk in your neighbourhood for the first “Virtual” Foundation Walk – and donate to the Rotary Foundation! Here is the information: https://rotary7040.com/event/annual-district-foundation-walk--canton--ny/ Post pictures on Facebook and tag our club’s Facebook page: D7040 Passport Rotary Club.

Finally, we cannot forget Mother’s Day on May 10th. Whether your own mother is around or not, you all know some outstanding moms out there – some of them are in this club J Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, grandmothers and stepmothers everywhere who help shape the life of children, teens and adults around the world.

Application for a District Simplified Grant for Sonshine Families Inclusion Centre

By Ariane Carriere, Immediate Past President

At last Tuesday’s meeting on the 28th, Len Goddard talked about things that were needed for a new inclusion centre that his organization is opening. As we all know, our club does not have a lot of money, but we are qualified for grants for next year. Since the deadline for District Simplified Grants was April 30, I went to work the following day. Everything went well and the grant application has been submitted. You can find the following documents in our Document section, or by clicking on the link for each one.
  1. Grant application
  2. Current RI rates. The grant application must be in US dollars
  3. A letter from Len as director of Sonshine Families in how Rotarians and his organization work together
  4. A one-page summary of what the Centre is about
  5. A list of items that require sponsorship
This grant is for the next year, so the $1000 CAD should be included in the budget for next year. Possible start date if the grant is approved may be September.

What is your intention for next year?
Ariane Carriere, Membership Chair

David, our treasurer has told us that his intention is to get invoices for dues out in May.

We need to know if you may be thinking of leaving the club so that we will not be sending you an invoice. Also remember that if you are on the roster July 1 we will be billed by RI and by the district for you.

There is no need to do anything if you are staying with us, and we hope you do. We have three honorary members who will become active members in June as well.

Thank you for continuing to add in your makeups. We are now at over 50%.

Bylaws

Amended bylaws were approved at the April 28 meeting. They will be loaded in the document section soon. A copy will be sent to Bette Miller, District Chair of the Legislation Committee.
