Pay It Forward Day is a global initiative that exists to make a difference by creating a huge ripple of kindness felt across the world. Of course, our hope is that people pay kindness forward every day and make each day that little bit brighter. We believe that small acts, when multiplied by millions of people can literally change the world for the better — and on April 28th we’ll set out to prove it! For this year’s international Pay It Forward Day (PIFD) we are aiming to inspire over 10 million acts of kindness around the world. Imagine the difference that would make!  Join us in paying it forward and help spread the word about this important day!

Possible Ottawa Meeting Revised Date

On May 3 I need to go to Gloucester High School to talk about next year’s Guatemala trip. If possible, I would like to meet with any Ottawa area club members. I will be at Perkins, next to the St. Laurent Shopping Centre after 1:00 pm. Please let me know if you are interested in meeting.

Documents

You need to be signed in to www.d7040passport.org. All documents that you can download, such as Events, ClubRunner information, Foundation information and so on can be found here. Events with other clubs is updated weekly as new events come up, and past events expire.

Foundation Walk Pledges

In our Documents section is a copy of a multiple donor form that is partly filled. Please let me know the amount that you wish to pledge. An updated form will be added to next week’s bulletin. I will fill this out so that it can go to the Rotary Foundation and you will be credited for it. Please send donations by e-transfer to me at ariane.carriere@rotary7040.com and the amounts for our club members will stay together.

If you prefer to donate to the Rotary Foundation directly, go to https://www.rotary.org/en/donate and make a note that this is for the D7040 Foundation Walk. Also, let me know so that I can add you to the total.

Tomorrow April 24 https://www.gotomeet.me/Rotary7040 7:00 pm. Agenda is in the Documents section. If you have other items to be added, contact me before 3 pm tomorrow.

Ottawa Rose Day

Hello fellow Passport Club members. Just in time for Mother's Day, here's how to help out Rotarians‎ and get some beautiful long stem roses delivered to the special people in your life. The Ottawa South Club is organizing their annual Rose Day on May 11. For $40 you get a fresh boxed long-stem Colombian or Ecuadorian roses delivered to the door. Delivery is free and goes to anywhere in the Ottawa region. Also, if you're looking to volunteer, Ottawa South is looking for people with vehicles that can deliver the morning of May 11. It's fun to see the looks on people's faces as you hand them roses! If you are interested in orders or volunteering I can hook you up. You can contact me at kath.trim@yahoo.ca directly. Kathy

Cornwall Rotarians VOLUNTEER WITH THE BEYOND 21 CONNECT PROGRAM

The Connect Program is a volunteer-based befriending initiative that aims to cultivate social relationships between volunteers and adults with developmental disabilities. There are two ways you can get involved:

1:1 Connections
Individual volunteers are connected with a Beyond 21 program participant and spend one-on-one time exploring shared interests in the community. Volunteers and participants are carefully matched, taking each persons interests and personality into account. 1:1 Connections meet on a regular basis (minimum once monthly) and enjoy lots of fun activities – going out for coffee, sharing a meal, getting a manicure, attending a sports event or creative workshop, etc.

Hub Connections
Hub Volunteers spend time connecting with and supporting the social involvement of Beyond 21 program participants in a supervised group setting. Activities take place on site at The Hub (our programming space) where volunteers are invited to share their talents and take part in different activities alongside participants (i.e. art, crafting, puzzles, card games, billiards, baking, etc.).

Ottawa Rotarians, this is for you:

Sally H. Burks <SBURKS@perlaw.ca> wrote:

I am writing to you as Chair of the Governance Committee for The Ottawa Rotary Home. We are currently looking for five people to become members of the Board of Directors. I am attaching a "Wanted Flyer" which sets out the detailsl of our search and ideal candidates. (Look for it in the Documents section)

I wonder whether you would be able to assist The Ottawa Rotary Home by circulating the information regarding our search for board members to the various Rotary Clubs in Ottawa?
