What are you doing for World Polio Day October 24? The Cornwall group is doing a meal and will collect donations for World's Greatest Meal to End Polio.
Youth Now has organized an afternoon for Ottawa area clubs and members at the farm on Russell Road for October 21. Contact David Wood if you want more information.
An events list would be helpful to find out what was happening with other clubs. Look on the District website www.rotary7040.com for the Calendars tab. Some events have started to appear.
We need to know if you are willing to serve on the board of directors for next year. We need to report names to Rotary International after the December AGM.
Welcome our newest members
Jacinthe Paille has transferred to our club from Montreal Ville-Marie.
Liliane Lalonde-Mckennirey has transferred in from Nepean-Kanata.
In order to catch up on what's been happening with our club all of you are encouraged to read archived copies of the bulletin.
Meet the Member articles needed
Have you written your article introducing yourself yet? It does not take long and helps others in the club get to know you.
Adding a picture to your profile also helps others get to know you. Some of you may notice that your profile pictures have now been added.
Also, for some members, a biography has been added to their profile. Those are the Meet the Member articles that you have sent to me.
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 30 years. Since 1979, we have vaccinated more than 2.5 billion children. But we haven't done it alone. Here is a timeline for our partnerships:
The group is a closed group for members of our club only. You can use it to have conversations or ask questions. Anyone from the club can post to the group, but whatever is posted is only visible to the members of the group.
The page is open for anyone to see; for sharing information with others; for posting events; for finding out about Rotary in general, and so on. The admin positions right now are Kathy Trim and me, and we are the only ones who can post original items on that page. You can of course reply and share any of the postings. If you would like to become a page editor, contact me and I will add your name to the list.
More Notes
A message has been sent to Fay Campbell and Hadi Mortada, Area Governors for the Ottawa area about getting representation on the Ottawa area presidents’ council. Both agreed and Beth Campbell will represent us in October. Len Goddard will go in November.
Because there were several conflicts with meeting on a Monday, the Board Meeting night has moved to Wednesday.
The month of July is now “closed” for attendance so that we could get a report, but makeups can still be applied if you did not check off all July dates. We are averaging 57% activity for the month of July. How to add your own makeups is now on home page Downloads.
Rotary Basics
Check out the updated publication "Rotary Basics" with a nice overview of all things Rotary for new or existing club members who want to learn more about our very international organization!
“Habitat’s aim to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope aligns perfectly with Rotary’s commitment to make positive, lasting change in communities around the world,” said Rotary General Secretary John Hewko. “With Habitat’s expertise and the power of Rotary’s volunteer network, we will help build the foundation for stronger communities.”
Volunteer with or support Habitat for Humanity for your next service project. It is one of the causes that our club has identified.
