Your board will be suggesting revisions to our bylaws soon.
If there are any bylaws you wish revised, changed, updated, please send an email to myself this week.

If you missed last week's online club meeting, please use the link below to view it.. It counts as a makeup too. The link: https://vimeopro.com/cochrane/passport

Til next week ...
A repeat of the special note from Ariane.

Please note that PETS and DTA will take place at the Ramada Inn, 805 Brookdale Ave., Cornwall on March 21 and 22 instead of Nav Centre.  All District 7040 Members are welcome to attend the District Training Assembly.

Registration is free and even Breakfast Sunday morning is free.  Several Passport Club members will be at this important event, so a great chance to meet and mingle with some of your fellow members and meet other Rotarians from our District.

Take a look at the schedule here and register. There is no cost to attend the District Training Assembly.

If you haven’t attended a District Training Assembly before, make sure to sign up for the special session for first timers “What Am I Doing Here?” that will run 8:15-8:45 am before the first plenary session.

Foundation dinner is Saturday, March 21. Register here.

If you want to stay overnight at the Ramada, you can take advantage of special Rotary rates. Info here.

        Secretary's Thoughts

Hello again fellow D7040 Passport Rotarians, I'm sorry that I was unable to attend last week's meeting February 25th, but I have watched the video in order to prepare minutes, and President Chris has kindly included a link to the video in his message this week.  Please make sure that you watch the video if you were not able to attend the live on-line meeting and in fact it's important for all members to make sure they watch the recording of any meeting that you are unable to attend for any reason.

This is an important way to stay current with the activities of your club!

I also draw your attention to the note below about our sponsorship of charities in the On-Line Ontario Rotary 50:50 Lottery.

Have a great week everyone.

Terry

Please Note  Jacinthe Paillé, President-Elect, is on her "Spring Break" and will be back again next week - March 8th.

Maddie's Musings

Please note that Maddie's Musings will be back in this spot again next week!

Prospective 50 50 Ontario Rotary On Line Lottery winners

This is a follow up to last week and also discussion at the February 25th Passport Club meeting. We are still hoping to finalize at least three Ontario-based Charities that our club would like to sponsor in the Ontario Rotary online 50/50 Lottery.  So far we have three prospective charities:

The Ottawa Rotary Home - nominated by David Whyte
and featured in last week's Bulletin.
and

The Agape Food Bank in Cornwall nominated by Ariane Carriere.

The Canadian Aid for Chernobyl

President Chris is proposing this Brockville-based Charity headed by Thousand Island Rotarian Dave Shaw. Canadian Aid For Chernobyl provides targeted assistance to families in need as a result of the Chernobyl disaster and Brockville volunteers make sure donations are directly delivered to these families that need assistance.  President Chris is currently making sure that this charity is okay with our sponsorship and the Board will then be making a final decision about that charity and others that may come forward.

Here's a link to let you know more about this charity:  http://canadianaidforchernobyl.com/new/2020/02/our-containers-are-in-belarus/#more-5116

A fourth possibility is:   The Cataraqui Rotary FAR Project nominated by Margaret Shibley  cannot finalized until it has been approved by Rotary International so is still pending.
If you have other projects to propose please pass along to Secretary Terry Forth.  Once approved by our Board we will also need agreement from the respective charity as well as a JPEG copy of the charity logo and a brief description of the charity goals etc.  Please note to be eligible for our sponsorship prospective charities must be registered and active in the province of Ontario.

The way this charity works is that lucky winners of the winning ticket receive 50% of the pot, the charity of their choice gets 35% and 15% covers the administrative costs carried by the Mississauga Rotary club.
