Let’s Meet!
Our first meeting of the 2020-21 Rotary year is going to take place on Tuesday, July 28th (5:00pm EST), and I am very much looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible! A new feature of the monthly meeting is the “Rotary 5 for 5” – log in on Tuesday to find out about it!
Then, on Tuesday August 4th, the Club’s Foundation Committee will be meeting (5:00pm EST). The committee is composed of Chair Ginette, Terry, Maddie, Margaret, Jacinthe, and newcomer Brian. At our club’s August meeting, the committee will be able to give you some information on what was discussed, and the committee’s plan for the year. Any club member wishing to find out more about the Foundation (and many more topics) can take an online course in the Learning Center. Click here for the Course Catalog (you’ll need to log in to My Rotary): file:///C:/Users/jacinthe/Downloads/learning_center_course_catalog_en.pdf

And finally, don’t forget our Online Social on Tuesday, August 11 (5:15 to about 6:15pm, EST)! Invite a guest so they can find out about what it means to be a Rotarian – and perhaps be inspired to join our club!
             Secretary's Thoughts
Well our first meeting of the new Rotary Year is coming up on Tuesday as President Jacinthe highlights in her remarks this week.  You will be receiving the agenda for our meeting soon.

New members may not be aware, but most of our club meetings are also Board Meetings and in this combined format we normally conduct the majority of regular club business at this time which provides for full transparency.

According to our Club By Laws which are in the Documents section of ClubRunner under “Governance” our voting requirements are as follows: The minimum number of participants who must be present or online when a vote is taken: one-third of the club’s members for club decisions and a majority of the directors for club board decisions.

The Board is empowered to make most decisions for the club so when preparing club minutes, I usually will try and specify first that we have a majority of Directors present at the meeting and also whether or not a decision taken is a Board or a Club decision.  If a club decision, then only a third of our club members may actually need to be present. That said we are always hoping that we will have as many Directors and Club. Members in attendance as possible.

To access our June 30 Passport meeting recording please use the link below.  My apologies to anyone who tried to use the link in last week's bulletin - it was unfortunately incorrect.  And remember - watching this recording is an easy make-up!

And finally please remember that this week will be the final opportunity for members to access the special International Convention Break Out Groups,  Check the link on the left hand side of your Bulletin - look for July Breakout Groups.    See you all Tuesday at 5:00 PM!!

Yours in Rotary,

Terry

We are now in Stage Three of re-opening our economy in most of Ontario, but it is still important to remain cautious and stay safe.  Once again, this important message from Rotary International continues to be timely:

President-Elect Maddie Roy

Our first meeting of the Rotary year is fast approaching and I can't wait to see what lies ahead for our club. In the near future, our District Conference will be taking place. It is set to be held online between October 16 and 18. Sign up is open now, accessible through this link: https://rotary7040.com/…/program-registration-programme-ins… Each Zoom session must be signed up for separately. I will be running one of the break-out sessions where I'll be talking about different approaches to Rotary clubs. I am so excited to talk about what it is like to be a Rotarian in a Passport Club!

I hope to see many of you at our meeting this upcoming Tuesday and at our social event which will be held on Tuesday, August 11.

It’s Membership Month coming up in August!
We have a challenge for you. We hope you’ll accept this invitation and ask one person to join you in the meeting. It could be your next door neighbour, or someone that you knew from Rotary before.

Online Social on August 11 (5:15pm). This is your invitation.
5:15-5:30pm -  People log in and chat
5:30pm         -  Welcome everyone.

Introduce yourselves (i.e. name, city/area and 1 cool thing about you that we have not heard before)
5:45/5:50pm   Ask two or three people online why they joined Rotary, and what makes  them stay; if Hadi is online with us (Jacinthe has invited him), we could ask him to start.
Continue with chatting, fellowship, etc. End around 6:15/6:30pm.

This meeting will be recorded as an attendance credit so you will not need to add it to your makeups. If you are adding in makeups, do not bank them. Try to pick an actual date that is not identified as a meeting.

This is the last bulletin for July. Have you at least entered one makeup for this month?
