June is my final month as your Club President.

Please schedule yourself
(and a guest)
to attend your online Executive changeover on June 30.
It'll be a meeting not to be missed!

Please keep recording your make-ups.
We want club attendance as near to 100%
as possible. Anything you do for others,
with other volunteer organizations,
with other Rotary Clubs, for our club,
counts as a makeup. One action = one makeup.

If you can give to The Rotary Foundation
this month, please use a credit card online
and earmark your donation for Polio.
It will held eliminate that disease.
It will help your Club reach to its goal.

Till next week...

             Secretary's Thoughts

Hello Everyone

We all know about Rotary's efforts over the past many years to End Polio Now!   And we're very close.  Please see the poster at the bottom of this Bulletin for a special live online report on June 10th from RI regarding the End Polio Campaign.  Please watch and Donate on line June 10th  Please follow President Chris's advice and pay on line using a credit card and please make sure our Passport Club is identified so that both you and our club get the credit.  Thanks all!

Once again, here's an important message from Rotary International:

Yours in Rotary,

Terry

President-Elect’s Message -
June is Here

By Jacinthe Paille

Hello everyone! In Rotary, the month of June is the occasion to celebrate what we have accomplished, as with it comes the end of another Rotary year.

I would like to suggest that you look back on your own participation as a member of the Passport club this year: Did you start volunteering for a local organization and discovered you really enjoyed it – and then, you entered this time spent helping out as part of your makeups for the club? Did you participate in another club’s online meeting and were inspired? I believe there are many ways to be involved in Rotary, and there is space for anyone who wants to make a difference, no matter how much time, money and energy they have to give.

Personally, I tried to make the most of this recent time spent at home to continue learning and connecting: I attended a Rotary Club One (Chicago) online meeting and heard a speaker that I could never have heard in person because of physical distance; I attended excellent PETS sessions from my own home; I walked in my neighbourhood for the Rotary Foundation; and more. Life has been different, but Rotary has kept me connected to you, my fellow club members, and other Rotarians around the world.

I would like to suggest saving the dates of June 20-26 on your calendar for the 2020 Rotary Virtual Convention – what a great way to wrap up the year – and open opportunities! Check out the details here: https://www.riconvention.org/en/honolulu.

And finally don’t forget our own club Changeover on Tuesday, June 30th (5:00pm EST). I hope everyone will be there!
See you online soon!

Maddie's Musings

The past few months have presented unique challenges to our daily lives, but we have proved to be resilient. Rotary and Rotarians have continued to affect change and put service above self. Meetings have continued (we were already one step ahead!) and service has been directed to vulnerable members of our community. Our empathy has not changed or abated with such uncertain circumstances, rather it seems to have deepened.

Now, more than ever, we need to channel this empathy and stand as a united force against discrimination and suffering. George Floyd is a stark reminder of inequality and hatred, as well as a reminder of why we are Rotarians; dialogue and empathetic communication, mutual respect, and the belief in everyone's inherent value and humanity are the cornerstones of our future.

Let us remember and mourn George Floyd. Now, more than ever, we must strive for unity.
