On November 26, our District Governor,
Gerry Lambert,
will be doing his official club visit.
He will attending our general meeting
which begins at 5:30 pm.
That's because at 5:00 pm,
Gerry wants to meet with all Board Members
privately for 30 minutes.
I'll be sending a private Zoom link
a few days before the event.
Please be on time for this meeting with Gerry.
It's important!

On November 30, (revised date)
President-elect Jacinthe
is planning to host a Foundation fundraiser
in her new home in Montreal. 4pm- 8pm.
The cost is being determined
and details will be posted once finalized.
Please reserve the date. Should be a great evening!

Our process of electing Club officers
for the next Rotary year begins.
Look for the previously promised email this week
asking for nominations for various positions.
Please think seriously about whom to select.
Details will be forthcoming in the email.

Monday is November 11.
Time to give thanks to all veterans
for their sacrifices.
We're free because of their actions.

Here's a link to a video tribute to our veterans
based on an event experienced by myself
and a good friend, Terry Kelly.
It happened on November 11, 1999.
We created this video together
to remind people to observe
2 minutes of silence
at 11am, November 11.

        Secretary's Thoughts
First of all I want to thank Ariane for all of her help with this week's issue of our Bulletin fixing up some of the graphics and deleting some out of date items as well as adding member's Birthdays and Anniversaries.  Her help is really appreciated as I continue to learn my way around ClubRunner.

Here is a link to the minutes from our In person meeting held in Ottawa on October 30th. We will be seeking approval of those minutes at our November 26th meeting.

And once again here are links to the draft minutes of the three previous club minutes between July 30th and September 27th which we need to get approved electronically hopefully before our next meeting.  For any of you who attended those meetings please have a look at the minutes and advise me of any needed corrections or changes.

I am moving for  acceptance of all three sets of minutes electronically and would appreciate a seconder for each one and a vote of approval from members - also electronically please.

That's all from me for the moment please note all of the special messages in this issue of our bulletin!

November Is Foundation Month

I joined Rotary because I wanted to make a difference in my local and international community, but the truth is this: I have stayed in Rotary for the last 21 years in great part because of the people I met, and also because of the great work of our Rotary Foundation.

In fact, in November 1998, my club president, seeing how enthusiastic this new member was, asked me if I was interested in attending a Foundation seminar. You can imagine that I said yes...and that was when I fell in love.
Learning about the many programs of the Foundation made me realize the reach that Rotary has, and the power one organization can have in making a difference in people's lives. I wanted to be part of a group that offered scholarships, that gave hope to villagers by helping them get access to clean water, and that joined forces to get rid of a terrible disease named polio.

I am still a firm believer in the Foundation and what it does. Even if my means are not the same as others, I believe in contributing, because every dollar counts! One of the easiest ways to give is through Rotary Direct. You can set it up so that your yearly contribution of $100 is taken in an annually, quarterly or monthly withdrawal on your credit card. It is easy to do, and you receive a tax credit for it. Why not get it done now before the end of the year? Just click here for all the info: https://my.rotary.org/en/document/rotary-direct-canada-rotarys-recurring-giving-program-form (Rotary Direct Canada)

The club's Foundation Committee is composed of Ginette, Maddie, Terry, Margaret , Heddy and myself. We are pleased to invite you to a Foundation gathering at my place on November 30th (see Facebook event and also in the club bulletin). If you cannot attend, why not consider donating even just $5? Let us support our Foundation and continue doing good in the world :)
Yours in Rotary service,

Jacinthe

Please Note this message from Ariane regarding two Grants Management Seminars

There are two Grants Management Seminars left – November 16 in Montreal and December 7 in Kemptville. If our club wants to qualify for grants next year, we need to have the president and president-elect at least take part. If we want to go for a Global Grant, we need to have those two people and the project lead for grants. You can attend either grants management seminar for the experience in Rotary grants if you wish. Until your name shows up on one of the registrations, you are not shown as “qualified” for this year.

Membership News

We are still looking for another member for the Membership Committee. The Rotary Citation requires that we have 5 members on the committee.  Please contact Ariane if interested.
