Last Meeting for Rotary Year

The online meeting on June 5, 2018 is the last one for the Rotary year 17-18. We need to discuss dues, dates for next year, communication, Youth Now project,
and any other items you want to send to me.

We’re getting close to the end of the Rotary year!

The official 17-18 Rotary year ends on June 30. If you have not marked in your makeups, please do so as soon as possible. If you are not able to do it yourself, send a list either to me, or to Secretary Jacinthe Paille so that we can enter it.
 
If you are not going to continue in Rotary, you need to let us know. We get charged dues for anyone on our roster on June 30. We hope that you have found this year with the Passport Club worthwhile. Unless we hear from you, we will assume that you are going to continue your membership.
 
 
 

June 2 Tree Planting

Planting 40 trees at the Youth Now Farm in Ottawa as part of RI president’s Ian Risely Tree planting initiative. Thank you President Gayle and the Rotary club of Orleans.

Help Support Karla

 

The Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise in Cornwall Ontario Canada is raising funds for the education of a former Rotary exchange student from Venezuela. Karla was here in 2015. After a year as a grade 12 student at CCVS High School in Cornwall she returned to Venezuela to pursue post-secondary education there. Due to the crisis in Venezuela, Karla has been unable to continue her post-secondary education. She applied and has been accepted in the 2-year Social Service Worker program at St. Lawrence College in Cornwall. Funds are being raised to support her first year of study as an international student in Canada. 

When she was here, Karla was quite active in Interact. I met her several times and was impressed with her outgoing personality. She deserves a chance.

When I contributed, I received this note:

"We have about 6 weeks to raise the funds to pay her tuition, then we need to apply for the visa, arrange for a Rotarian in Colombia to meet her after she crosses the mountains on foot, and get her on a plane to come here."
