5. MARK THE DATE! Our charter night will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Carriere residence. Plans are to have an outside garden party. This is the first night in the 2017-2018 year that DG Susan Bellor is available. I need to know if you still have a Rotary pin, or if I need to order a new pin for you.
6. There will not be a bulletin next week because of Canada Day, but you will get an invoice :-)
June is Rotary Fellowship Month
The scope of Rotary Fellowships has changed over the years, but their purpose has remained the same: to unite Rotary members, their spouses, Rotaractors, program participants, and alumni in friendship, and to provide ways for them to enjoy their favorite recreational or professional activities. Over 70 fellowships cover interests from tennis and marathon running to wine and cooking, from scuba diving and jazz to recreational vehicles and computers.
Rotary Fellowships began informally in 1928, when Rotarians with a shared interest in Esperanto joined together. In 1947, Rotarian boating enthusiasts began flying the Rotary flag from their craft, calling themselves the
International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians. The group now has the longest continuous history of any Rotary Fellowship.

Rotary International President Ian Riseley
At the International Assembly in January, the president-elect challenged every Rotary club to make a difference by planting a tree for each of its members between the start of the Rotary year on 1 July and Earth Day on 22 April 2018. Trees remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, which slows global warming.
Classification Talk
These presentations give members the chance to learn the inner workings of jobs other than their own and can plant the seeds for professional networking opportunities. The talks also are useful for introducing guests and prospective members to our club. If you can send me a short paragraph to use in the next bulletin, that would be appreciated.
Talk #1 - Ludmylla Mar dos Reis
My father was a Rotaract member and still is a Rotarian. When I turned 16 I joined Interact at my home District and remained on youth programs - passing through Rotaract as well - until 2015 when there was a huge life change. My husband and I were changing houses or countries almost every 6 months. Now, after 2 years away I do miss my contributions and experiences to Rotary services and found in the Passport club a chance to come back home.
I’m a professional actress and theatre Director which makes my times absurdly chaotic. My huge interests now in Rotary is Youth (RYLA, Rotaract, and Interact) as a way to return all the amazing things I’ve learned. I also miss the chance to spend a great time with like-minded people. Rotary has been my family for a while – I even met my husband there. Hope to see you soon, Ludy.
