More than half of the 2.5 million refugees fleeing Ukraine have arrived in Poland, where Rotary members organize shelter, transportation, and necessities for the incoming refugees.
Rotary Club of Olsztyn is collecting and managing donations for refugees, primarily unaccompanied children, staying at Ostróda Camp. Within a few hours, four cars full of donated items were collected— including food, clothes, bedding, personal hygiene products, as well as some toys.
The Rotary Foundation has received thousands of donations, totalling over $1.1 million. These donations support efforts like that of the Rotary Club of Olsztyn and provide medical supplies in Ukraine and support refugees who have fled to neighbouring countries. #RotaryResponds

As you all likely know, the upheaval in Ukraine comes at an enormous human cost. Rotarians in neighbouring countries have not hesitated to step forward and take the lead in humanitarian efforts to support those who are in Ukraine as well as those who have left. There is an article on our district's website with links for those of us who are interested in learning more or supporting these efforts.
World Rotaract Week is upon us! From March 14-20, all eyes are on Rotaract. Click here to see the amazing Rotaract clubs that we have here in our district and what they're up to!
Have a great week!

From the President-Elect
Doing a double check with some District folk on details in our revisions to the Passport Bylaws. Getting terrific and knowledgeable support.
Is it too early to talk about next steps? As soon as we get the bylaws finalized, we will be working together toward a Passport Club Vision and Strategic Plan. In negotiations now to get some professional help on this as a pilot project for the District. That would really start us off on solid ground - and put us on the map.

PDG Nické Salen in Sweden reports the situation in the Ukraine has caused their price for gasoline to skyrocket reaching - get this -
$10 US per litre, $40 US per US gallon.
For a vehicle with a 50 litres gas tank, that's $500 US ($750 CAN) to fill up. YIKES!

Responding to
the Crisis in the Ukraine
In response to the deepening humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, The Rotary Foundation has created an official channel for Rotary members around the world to contribute funds to support the relief efforts underway by Rotary districts and has designated its Disaster Response Fund as the main avenue for contributions.
Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund in support of Ukraine can be made here. All funds need to be received into the Disaster Response Fund by 30 April 2022 in order to qualify for use in support of the Ukrainian relief efforts.
Although the Disaster Response Fund will be the main avenue for Rotary Foundation support, Rotary and Rotaract clubs are also encouraged to create their own responses to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
