President's Message

This Tuesday, Nov 26, our monthly meeting begins at 5:30pm.
This is because the District Governor will be meeting privately with the Board of Directors at 5:00 pm.
Also, the District Governor will attend our November monthly meeting at 5:30 pm.

Please attend a Holiday Cooking Demonstration and Fundraiser organized by member Simmy Ahluwalia.
It's an opportunity to learn and eat well at the same time.
(My favourite combination!)
The event is limited to 40 people. It will sell out quickly.
Rotarian, Montreal Restaurant owner, and Chef Extraordinaire,
Michele Herblin will be cooking.
To buy tickets or more information, contact Simmy.a@rogers.com

Nominations for Club President-nominee are open until the end of this month.
Please continue to send names to myself.

Till next week ...

        Secretary's Thoughts

President Chris has already sent everyone a note concerning the decision of the Board regarding the normal meeting times for the club remaining at 5:00PM on the last Tuesday of each month.  The Board minutes are in the Minutes section of our documents and can be found at this link:
https://portal.clubrunner.ca/13757/Documents/en-us/c52491a7-3b77-46f9-ac0b-2389c65aae87/1/

We did not receive a sufficient number of votes to approve the three draft minutes of meetings held July 30; August 27; and September 24, 2019. Therefore these minutes as well as the October 30th minutes from our special Ottawa meeting will be on the agenda Tuesday night for approval.

Look forward to seeing everyone at our 5:30 PM Club Meeting this Tuesday.

Looking for Resources on the Rotary Foundation?

By Jacinthe Paille
Foundation Chair, D7040 Passport

Foundation month is coming to an end but there is no need to panic: you can find a lot of information on our Foundation and its programs in many different ways and places. Check the following list out!
1. The Rotarian Magazine. Every month, you receive in your physical or virtual mailbox a copy of our magazine, The Rotarian. Every issue has something related to the Foundation: photos illustrating a project that was made possible thanks to a grant; an interview with a former Rotary scholar; and the monthly message from the RI Foundation Chair. Let me suggest reading (and looking at the incredible photos) the photo essay entitled ‘The ‘Plus’ in Polio Plus’ in the October 2019 issue (pp. 30-49).
2. The RI Website has a lot of information on the Foundation (https://rotary.org/en/about-rotary/rotary-foundation). You can read some news and a bit of history by clicking on the link, but if you log in to your My Rotary website you have access to much more.
3. Again on the RI website, you can now find information on a new grant that will launch in January 2020. Exciting times! https://my.rotary.org/en/take-action/apply-grants/programs-scale-grants
Want to donate to our Foundation? Every dollar matters, and you can choose where to send your funds. Click here to make a donation today J https://www.rotary.org/en/donate

Please Note this message from Ariane regarding Grants Management Seminars

There is now one Grants Management Seminar left for 2019 – which will be held on December 7 in Kemptville. If our club wants to qualify for grants next year, we need to have the president and president-elect at least take part. If we want to go for a Global Grant, we need to have those two people and the project lead for grants. Any D7040 Passport Club Member can attend this remaining grants management seminar (and we need at least two members to attend a Grants Management Seminar for the experience in Rotary grants if you wish. Until your name shows up on one of the registrations, you are not shown as “qualified” for this year.

Membership News

We are still looking for another member for the Membership Committee. The Rotary Citation requires that we have 5 members on the committee.  Please contact Ariane if interested.

Polio National Immunization (NID) Day January 2020

There will be a NID Trip to India in January and you can download two files with information about the trip and how to sign up.

These two files are in our Documents "Notices" section and you can link to them here:
