What Types of Rotary Foundation Recognition Exists for Clubs?

  • 100 Percent Paul Harris Fellow Club: Rotary Clubs in which 100 percent of all dues-paying members are Paul Harris Fellows receive special recognition from The Rotary Foundation. Qualifying Rotary Clubs receive a special club recognition banner and join an elite group of clubs. Once a club reaches 100 percent PHF status, the District Governor or Rotary Foundation chair must request the recognition from The Rotary Foundation. This recognition is a one-time-only award, but the intent is that the club will maintain its membership at the 100% Paul Harris Fellow level.
  • 100 Percent Foundation Giving Club Banner: This banner is awarded to clubs that achieve an average of $100 in per capita giving and 100 percent participation, with every dues-paying member contributing at least $25 to any or all of the following during the Rotary year: Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, approved global grants, or Endowment Fund.
  • 100 Percent Every Rotarian Every Year Club Banner: Rotary Clubs must achieve a minimum Annual Fund contribution of $100 per capita during the Rotary year, and every dues-paying member must personally contribute at least $25 to the Annual Fund during the year.
  • 100% Paul Harris Society Club Banner: This recognition is awarded to clubs in which every dues-paying member has contributed a minimum of $1,000 to the Annual Fund, the PolioPlus Fund, or an approved global grant during the Rotary year.

The Trustees of The Rotary Foundation also present club recognition banners each year to the three Rotary Clubs in each District with the highest per capita in Annual Fund Giving.

Will our club be recognized by The Rotary Foundation this year?

May is Youth Service Month!

It’s my 43rd bulletin of the Rotary year, and I’d like to celebrate 4 years of the D7040 Passport Club (May 8)!

-The club was chartered on May 8, 2017 and Ariane was its first and second president. Then followed Chris Cochrane, and I am myself completing my term in a few weeks!
-The club now has 32 members and 3 honorary members. Our members come from Ontario, Quebec and NY state, and even from elsewhere in Canada/the US, as well as elsewhere in the world!
-On the club’s website, under ‘Education Centre,’ you can find the link to the 4 recordings of the Passport Educ. Centre done in the last few months. Two speakers are our very own Chris Cochrane and Len Goddard!
-In the past four years, we have donated to the Sonshine Organization; we have sold calendars to raise some funds; and we have completed many, many hours of volunteering in our individual communities, among many other activities.
Way to go, everyone! Here’s to another 4 + 4 + 4 (and beyond) years of Rotary service.

Lastly, because Sunday, May 9 was Mother's Day in Canada and the US, to all of the mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, and anyone else acting as a mother figure in someone’s life, thank you for all you do on a daily basis for those around you. We love you!
Secretary's Thoughts

Hi fellow Passport Club Rotarians and friends,

Hello all Passport Club members and friends, last week I spent a bit of time introducing members to documents that describe how the proposed Online Ontario Rotary Catch the Ace Raffle works.  The links to those documents is repeated here in case you didn’t get a chance to have a look at them last week:

  1. A one page introduction of the Raffle;
  1. A fifteen page booklet which describes the complete Online Raffle process.  This booklet has been put together by the Mississauga Rotary Club who have taken on the task of coordinating the raffle in accordance with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) license for the Catch the Ace Raffle which they hold:

  1. A two page analysis of how the Charity winnings will be divided based on each participating club’s ticket sales prepared by a Forensic Accountant in the Mississauga club.

Our Board of Directors is still giving consideration to this initiative and I am hoping a decision will be reached in the coming days so that the results can be revealed in the next Bulletin.

This information is being posted in the interests of transparency, members should note that we are not anticipating a requirement for a club vote, only a decision by your Board of Directors.

Have a great week everyone,

Yours in Rotary Service,

Terry

President-Elect Maddie Roy

A final reminder of the Annual District Foundation Walk next Saturday

STEPS
  • Take a walk in your community. Take a dog, take a friend or family member (at a distance), take a mask, and take a phone to get photos!
  • Collect donations from sponsors, add your own and send to David Wood via e-transfer.
  • Share your photos - on your own Facebook page, on RC Brockville Facebook page, and send your favourites to Margaret Shibley to pull into a group collage.
These funds will  be sent to the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation has been dear to President Jacinthe's heart for many years, and as you know, was her priority goal this year. This would be a lovely way to honour her service to Rotary and to the D7040 Passport Club.

Go "walkin' on sunshine..."

Continuing our series on Avenues of Service, today we look at International Service.

While community service focuses on the local community in which a club operates, international service consists in large part of funding and implementing service projects abroad. Many of these projects are related to the areas of focus of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, Apart from polio, as mentioned earlier when discussing the role of RAGs, these areas of focus are fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and finally promoting peace. Soon, grants for the environment will join this group.

When international service projects are well designed and when they have sufficient size, they can benefit from co-funding from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International under the global grant model. But many clubs and districts also implement smaller international projects without such support.

To find examples of international service projects, you can sign into My Rotary and look for Rotary Showcase. If you click on My Club Projects, you can see some of the things our club has done, maybe not internationally, but there are some there.

We recently voted to give some money to the Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise for the Toileton project in El Salvador. You can also find stories on the Rotary Blog about international service. If you want to find out what our district is doing, go to https://www.rotary7040.com/page/international-service.

Have your checked Coffee with a Rotarian this month? You can find it here. Brian was able to match everyone this month except for one person.

Suggested donation for a tax receipt is a minimum of $20 but any amount is welcome

The price of each Oxygen concentrator in India is approximately US $1000 which includes shipping and handling. Our goal is to have the funds purchase at least 100 units if not more.

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with agencies and the South Asian community like the Guajarati Samaj, Hindu Temple, Sikh Gurdwara, Mosques and other Indian organizations and share this information.

Encourage individual donations as well.

Due to the urgency of the situation in India this project will be open till the 24th. May 2021
