             Secretary's Thoughts

Margaret Shibley and I have been participating in some fairly extensive online Mentor Training  via Zoom with the KEYS folks in Kingston.  It has been a very interesting process and there are 16 plus of us participating in the training most from Kingston.  We have been learning a great deal about the mentoring process and the individual young adults that we will be working with.  I think both Margaret and I are really looking forward to the next steps and we will be happy to keep you updated as to how things are progressing with the FAR project.

If any member has a personal interest in knowing more about FAR and the Mentorship component Margaret and I would be happy to talk to you, just let us know.

Once again, here's an important message from Rotary International:

Yours in Rotary,

Terry

President-Elect’s Message

By Jacinthe Paille

The month of June is right around the corner, and with it will come the end of another Rotary year, and bring a new one on July 1st. For the past few months, in spite of what is happening in the world, presidents-elect like me have been preparing for our year through various training sessions given online.

I am very excited about starting the new Rotary year as this club’s 3rd president. I am counting on all of your collaboration, knowledge and passion for Rotary to keep the club going strong!

On Tuesday, May 26, at our monthly meeting, I will present the goals I feel our club can tackle next year – I am looking forward to getting your feedback and suggestions to accomplish these goals.

Apart from these objectives, I would like to suggest some things for us to do or participate in, like having classification talks by club members, hosting guest speakers, having a “Rotary 5 for 5” where we bring to the members’ attention 5 pieces of news in 5 minutes, stating a WhatsApp group to communicate, and more. There are lots of ideas in my head – I know we will not put them all into action but if you’re willing to share your own and make things happen, it will be amazing!

*Finally, don’t forget our club changeover on Tuesday, June 30th at 5:00pm – on Zoom 

This article continues with some of the activities that you can do during this time.
  • Read the Rotary Foundation Reference Guide and Connect for Good. You will need to be signed into My Rotary. Remember I asked you to do that last week?
  • Attend an online club meeting near you. Information is at www.rotary7040.com map of all clubs. If you go to the club’s website, you’ll find out when they meet and if you need to get an invitation for the online link.
  • Work with a club at one of its service activities. There are still service activities going on but maintain safety precautions.
  • Ask a friend to find out about our club by going to the website.
  • Ask someone you know to advertise on our website.
