For any early risers, you're invited to attend a Zoom meeting with Dr. Very Etches, Medical Officer of Health for Ottawa Public Health. It's being hosted by the Rotary Club of Orléans.
That meeting is Wednesday May 20 @ 8:00 am  ( 2 pm in Sweden and Malta, 1 pm in London,UK)

Here is the information for the Zoom meeting:

https://zoom.us/j/640564650?pwd=RmppYVNRbFhEL01NdjBNODFSWU8vQT09

Meeting ID: 640 564 650.   Password: 024794

It's an opportunity to get Covid related answers from a competent authority.

Hope to see you there.

Till next week...

             Secretary's Thoughts

Hope everyone is enjoying the May holiday weekend, zooming with family and friends and enjoying the occasional virtual beverage while you carry on with your planting chores.

I also wanted to mention that our next Passport club meeting will be Tuesday May 26th and this will really be our last regular business meeting of the year as President Chris and President Elect Jacinthe have decided that our final meeting on June 30th will be our changeover meeting and so will be largely devoted to our goodbyes to Chris and hellos to Jacinthe.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone

Once again, here's an important message from Rotary International:

Yours in Rotary,

Terry

PS. Jacinthe will be beck next week with her regular  message.

Maddie's Musings

The current state of affairs is presenting us all with a unique set of challenges. I, for one, have a lot more respect for teachers now that I have become my little brother's de facto science tutor!

On a broader scale, it is immensely challenging to assess how to proceed. There may be pressure to learn a new language, read all of the unread books on your shelf, or hone your skills in the kitchen. It's important to know that the primary purpose of quarantine measures is health and safety - everything else is secondary.

However, despite new challenges, there are also new opportunities. It is now easier than ever before to access things and connect to others from the comfort of your own home. Visiting Rotary Clubs around the world is feasible, minding time differences, of course! This year's Rotary International Convention may not be an excuse to lounge on a beach in Hawaii, but it'll be easy and fun for Rotarians from all around the world to connect and learn together. All in all, let's make the most of this situation and do what we can to forge ahead.

Things To Do At Home To Get A Makeup

Ariane Carriere, Membership Chair

If you have some time during your COVID-19 self-isolation, here are a few things you might want to do. Each one will count as a makeup, so be sure to mark that in. Originally these were part of new member add-ons, but there were too many of them, so I took them out. There will be another five for you next week.
  1. Update all your member information in ClubRunner. Include DOB. Add a picture.
  2. Go to rotary.org My Rotary, open an account. Update any information that is incorrect. Add picture.
  3. Take a course in the rotary.org learning center (learn.rotary.org).
  4. Find out information about the Rotary Global Rewards Program.
  5. Watch a video at vimeo.rotary.org.
