From our house to yours

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

End of year notes

There will not be another Board meeting until the end of January, unless there is a necessity. Don't forget to mark in your AGM attendance and anything else that you do during that time. There are lots of activities for you to participate in leading up to Christmas.

There will not be a bulletin on December 24 or 31. Bulletins will resume on January 7. Please send in your Meet the Member notes so that we can start using those again.

Take a look at all the birthdays and anniversaries that we have in December.

Check our Facebook page and the website homepage for pictures of members who took part in the Salvation Army Kettle Drive.

AGM December 5

The executive was acclaimed, see list at left. Minutes are in the Downloads section at the left. They are there for information and will need to be approved at next year's AGM.

We have several new website sponsors, but more are always welcome. If you know of someone who is interested, contact Ariane.

How can we engage new members?

Our membership is constantly changing and we are getting more members who are new to Rotary. New members are encouraged to get involved in some of the following ways:

• Read the Rotary Foundation Reference Guide and Connect for Good
• Introduce yourself to two new people each week. You can see the profiles and pictures on our website, click on Membership.
• Meet with a mentor. If you think you could benefit from this, we can find a mentor for you.
• Attend new member information sessions
• Attend a club board meeting
• Attend a district meeting (for example, the district conference or district council meeting)
• Create a My Rotary account
• Participate in a service project
• Take an online course on the Learning Center (learn.rotary.org)
• Find information about the club (website d7040passport.org, Facebook page, etc.)
• Invite a friend to an online meeting
• Explore club website and Rotary.org
• Have some fun!

A visual way to understand polio

The World Health Organization has produced a series of animated videos to explain polio eradication efforts. These videos offer short, simple answers to some of the biggest polio questions, including:

How do we monitor for the poliovirus?

How do we immunize millions of children in multiple countries?

How do we respond to a polio outbreak?

Watch and then share these videos on your social media networks to explain our efforts to end polio once and for all.
