Rotary Opens Opportunities. Every year, the Rotary International President announces a theme for the upcoming year. This tradition is credited to the 1949-50 RI President Percy C. Hodgson who established 4 objectives for his year.
Since then, RI Presidents have come up with short, catchy themes which guide clubs around the world in attaining objectives. This year, the theme is Rotary Opens Opportunities. You must have seen the logo composed of 3 coloured doors (it is on the pin you received or will receive in the mail!). A host of merchandise, from ties to socks, can be purchased with the yearly theme on it, as can be seen here: https://www.crsmarketing.ca/rotary-club-supplies-2020-2021-theme.html
When I joined Rotary in October 1998, the theme was Follow Your Rotary Dream. I think it was very fitting! I did follow my dream of joining a worldwide organization and making a difference. When Past President Ariane was District Governor in 2014-15, the Presidential Theme was Light Up Rotary. She certainly lit up the district that year – and beyond!

Hello fellow Passport Club Rotarians,
As you can see with this Bulletin, we’re off and running with a brand-new Rotary Year 2020-21!
You will see all of our new Executive and Directors listed in the left-hand sidebar, so welcome to everyone!
I wanted to mention that in this year we are welcoming suggestions as well as input from all of our members so if you would like to contribute a short article, announcement and especially photos of community projects or events you have attended please make sure to send those in to your editor by each Saturday afternoon before 6PM. Please send to: terry@akudlik.ca
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year!
Hope you all have a great week.
Once again, this important message from Rotary International continues to be timely - we need to avoid any travel that is not necessary to help keep the number of new cases down:
Yours in Rotary,
Terry
President-Elect Maddie Roy
Welcome to the new Rotary year. Another big thank you to Chris and everybody else that made last year's success possible. I'm eager to see what the new year brings!
As we all know, being based online has been advantageous to us during this transition period. A lot of Rotary programs have been adapting, some with great difficulty. One that is near and dear to me, Rotary Youth Exchange, is experimenting with online cultural exchanges. These give young people the opportunity to connect with people and cultures that are far removed from their own - the benefits of an exchange without the cost of travel insurance, if you will. Rotary International is enthusiastic about this endeavour and district 3131 has already started initiating students in the program!
This seems like it will be a great way to promote Rotary and promote international fellowship and I'm very excited to see where this program goes. If anybody would like more information, let me know!
Makeups
By Ariane Carriere, membership chair
Makeup dates have been loaded on up to the end of December. The rest will follow soon. When you first sign in, you'll see a new admin menu, but don't panic, you can still go to the classic admin menu that we used to have.
When we have an online meeting, from now on I will do the attendance from the meeting print screen. This will save you some entries for the rest of the year.
